UNexpected
as an avid medicinal greens supporter and smoker, i try to stay up to date with the current state of Prop. 215 legal stuff. I read in the LA Times EVERY SINGLE DAY about the closures of dispensaries despite seeing new places pop up left and right. I’ve had a recommendation (renewed annually) for 4 or 5 years.
Today took me totally by surprise.
1) I haven’t gone to my friend Sevan’s co-op in Studio City in over a month, so I decided to head there today.
CLOSED.
2) I then head to a newer place in Eagle Rock. Last time I went they hit me up to sign their petition. Essentially they are anticipating closure as well. And I am SURE they will close…this is the only dispensary I’ve ever been to that is next to a residential neighborhood. That just can’t last.
Anyway, I give them my ID. They ask to see my recommendation again. Come to find out that I can’t go in because my rec was issued by a fraudulent “doctor’ and is completely invalid.
(Sidenote: I’M KICKING MYSELF. Every previous year, I have gone thru MediCann. They are the LEGIT docs but it’s not the cheapest option. This year, being a fucking cheapskate, I went to some place in North Hollywood for $45.
I KNEW BETTER. Gah. Shitty.)
3) I need to get a new recommendation now. There were several people who gave me cards of places to go. It just sucks because I did not factor THIS into my finances.
4) I referred a friend or two to the same place for their rec, so I had to explain to them that they, too, are fucked. Embarrassing…..especially since they had come to me since I seemed to know what the fuck is going on.

I just called the #s on my recommendation. In the next few days, I am going to do everything possible to get my money back and get legal again.
