burning questions?

rottinghaus asked: for what it's worth, I heard it in Kevin & Bean too, but not till yesterday when I was catching up on podcasts.

Kevin & Bean and the whole holiday season on the morning show hold a special place in my heart.

FOR ALL OF YOU WHO GREW UP IN LA -  I know you’re with me on this.  These were the days I really really REALLY looked forward to the KROQ Xmas Calendar and the CD that came with it…..and the sticker!  Can’t forget the sticker!

I was exposed to so much new music at a time when it was rare to get exposure to local music unless you were out and about experiencing it.

As an 11 year old kid, CDs and the radio were my lifeblood.

No Doubt was one of the bands I found from that xmas CD.

I actually used to care when the DJs birthdays were….cuz they were right there on the calendar!  Wow Jed the Fish!

And OMG I had to celebrate Courtney Love’s bday every year OMG OMG OMG.

I would listen eagerly to hear Santa Karl (Malone) call in, and Mr. Birchum’s Top Gift guide is still pure comic gold.  (I have always loved Kimmel and Carrolla.)

I went to Acoustic Xmas in Dec. 2001.  FUCKING YEAHAAHHH  i was so stoked at the time, even though waiting in line at Virgin Records was unfruitful and I was forced to buy tix from a jackoff on ebay for $300.  The seats were THE WORST.  The bands were a few I’d still see to this day: Bad Religion, System of a Down,…uhhh….maybe that’s it.  Blink 182, Linkin Park and Alien Ant Farm….I was really into them at the time.  A bunch of one hit bands like POD, Puddle of Mudd, Sum 41, Staind, etc.

Kevin and Bean must be 85 years old because really, this seems ages ago.

I hadn’t thought about this for a long time, so….thanks.
